A tempered roasted peanut chutney that can go along very well with South Indian snacks like Dosa, Idli and Vada.

During college, I had roommates who were from the Southern part of India. Often on Sunday mornings, I'd wake up to this aromatic smell of tempering with red chillies, curry leaves and mustard seeds. Immediately I'd know it's the Roasted Peanut Chutney!
Ingredients
Peanuts- 1 cup
Green chilli- 2
Garlic clove- 1
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Salt
For tempering
Oil- 2 tsp
Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp
Dried red chilly- 1, halved
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Split black gram- 1 tsp
Curry leaves- 2-3
How to make Roasted Peanut Chutney
1. Roast peanuts on medium flame
2. Grind peanuts along with green chilli, garlic, cumin seeds, salt and a little water.
3. Take out the chutney in a bowl and prepare for tempering.
4. In a pan add oil
5. Add ingredients mentioned under tempering
6. Pour the tempering over the chutney.
7. Serve chutney with your choice of snacks.
