Aam Panna also known as Aam Jhora is an Indian sweet and tangy drink made with Steamed Raw Mangoes during summer and spiced with cardamom and saffron.

Summer is one such season that brings a variety of fruits to the market. And to beat the heat, you can turn these same fruits into refreshing drinks. Aam Panna is an Indian drink that’s very commonly known for its heat-resistant properties. Raw mango is sour in taste but the addition of sugar, cardamom and saffron to the cooked pulp beautifully brings out a sweet-tangy flavor.
In India, this drink is also known for its health benefits since mango is a good source of Vitamin C.

Raw Mango - 2
Sugar- 1:2 (For 1 cup Mango, 2 cup sugar)
Water- 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder- a pinch
Saffron (optional)- a pinch
How to make Aam Panna
1. Wash the Mango and peel off the outer Skin. You can also chose to keep the skin. Don't forget to remove the pit.
2. Cook the mango with some water until they are soft. If you chose to keep the skin, the skin will easily come off at this step.
3. Once cooked, take off the seed and extract every bit of pulp from the mango. Save the pulp. Discard the seed and the skin.
4. Add in sugar, cardamom and saffron
5. Mix everything together, preferably with a whisk, and make sure there are no lumps.
6. Save the Mango concentrate in a jar and refrigerate.
To make the drink
1. In a cup, add some ice.
2. Add in 2 tbs of the Mango concentrate and fill the cup with water. mix and enjoy.
Optional: To enhance the flavor, dip a slit chili in the drink and discard the chili or brush a mix of salt and chili powder onto the rim of the glass.
Other Variations: You can also add mint and cumin powder to the drink to aid in digestion
